This is a lie. The IAFF did not have anything to do with the PFAS in PPE bill that was written by Senator Shaheen’s office. At the 11th hour they were called to ask if they would sign on. They agreed. They had no knowledge or communication with Dr Peaslee and Senator’s office prior to that moment. It was Dr Peaslee who framed this bill with Senator Shaheen and her staff.

Had this letter been written differently I could have let it go. But, it is a lie. And you should know when you’re being lied to — especially in this issue as Harold Schaitberger’s IAFF has only come out in support of one study. The study done by Exponent as commissioned by Lion Gear.

I presume the Schaitberger statement above to be a ‘crowning’ if you will, of his greatest achievements before he walks away and leaves the next GP with his mess. The true problem here is you the membership, and then the call firefighters are being fed two different versions of Shaitbergers’ stance on PFAS in PPE.

In one hand Harold orders Pat Morrison to use Lion Gear’s own hack science to tell you not to worry, in the other hand Harold takes credit for PFAS legislation he had nothing to do with in order to make it appear he has you covered. He does not. He has himself covered.

Right now, with Covid-19 rampant and you on the front line, the IAFF is silent on the issue of PFAS in your gear and your exposure to Covid 19. Let’s hope your next GP is not a sell out to industry.
