Scientists are sounding an alarm tonight for America’s firefighters about potential cancer exposure from a class of chemicals that has been used for years to waterproof their “turnout gear.” Brian Ross speaks with Professor Graham Peaslee, of the University of Notre Dame, whose groundbreaking study was inspired by questions from Diane Cotter, whose husband Paul, a Massachusetts firefighter, was diagnosed with cancer . Brian also speaks with Rob Bilott, attorney and environmental activist whose 20 year fight against chemical manufacturers was the subject of a recent film “Dark Waters” in which Billott was played by actor Mark Ruffalo.
As January is firefighter cancer awareness month, I wish to ask you to share this interview to raise awareness.
